Untitled, from a Orange Garden in Murcia in the Setting Sun

We have it drilled into us from a young age to be organised, to carefully segment our lives into neat compartments. This makes us easier to predict and therefore control by anticipation, our future mapped out for us.

Placed into a series of institutions, from nursery, to perhaps university, most accessible employments, the military, prison, retirement homes we are told to follow the system, for our own "good".

Wake at this hour, eat three meals at the following times, lights out, sleep for eight hours.

Our natural instinct as a child is to ask the most important philosophical question of all: WHY?

Most parents will try to subconsciously avoid thinking of the reasons, long since trained into conformity, to feel a sense of belonging within society.

If the child persists in questioning, the parent will become irritable, then angry, answering with the ultimately thought terminating word: BECAUSE .

At one point or other your inner child will still speak to our adult mind, uttering the same questions. People then try many different things to find the answer to this question, be it religion with their own answers to the questions, isolation to try and work out our own answers, or drugs to try and peek at the answers at the back of the book.

All can provide solace in different ways, until each person accepts their own answer that makes satisfies them, for a time.

Many have asked why I travel, for what goal:

The Quest is The Question *
